Club Statement

Response To John Adams Resignation

The club would like to clarify the current situation with regards to John Adam’s recent resignation from First Team Management duties.

Following recent events where unfounded rumours and comments were entered on to the Kent County League Forum, John felt that he had no other option than to resign from his post.

The committee held an emergency meeting on Monday 19th May 2009 to discuss the situation and reluctantly agreed to accept John’s resignation. Our decision was not just based on results over recent seasons but on the fact that vicious rumours were circulating the Web regarding John’s position which was causing him great distress. We would like to put on record that the Committee have great respect for John’s ability in management which is second to none and fully appreciate the immense work that he has contributed behind the scenes. John has been absolutely brilliant in attending youth matches throughout the season where his experience and advice have been truly valued with everyone involved at the club.

There is an investigation currently under way at the club to identify the perpetrators of the messages posted on the forums where those concerned will be immediately banned from any participation with the Club. The Club will not tolerate any such behaviour and as a committee sincerely apologises for any inconvenience and embarrassment caused to John Adams.

John Adams has been a great ambassador for this club which we hugely appreciate and hope that he will take up our offer of being involved with the management committee as General Manager which is a role we hope to establish with John’s full involvement. We have discussed the situation with John and made him fully aware that he has the committee’s full support in terms of his involvement with the club’s future.

John has tried tirelessly everything this season to keep the club up,

The committee have agreed to set up a selection panel for deciding the next manager where we fully hope and expect that John will be part of the process.

On a final note we would like to thank John for his immense contribution to the club over the past 3 seasons where he has totally changed the playing environment from being a Player Power situation to a much more Managerial controlled changing room. Unfortunately, results have suffered during this transition period but feel this as being part of the process.

The club are adamant that the culture of Players being in control will not return and thanks to John’s efforts in eradicating this form of negative activity we can hopefully move forward to greater success. Hope that this is the end of the matter.

Crockenhill Football Club
Working in the Community

The club is a non profit making organisation where all proceeds are either in aid of charity or spent on improving the facilities at the Wested Meadow Ground for the 5 teams who currently participate in local leagues.

The committee and team management is formed entirely of volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that the football club continues to survive, providing an opportunity for players, young and old to participate in  football whilst improving and learning new skills under the careful guidance of our highly qualified professional coaching staff.

We are a  F.A Charted Senior Club with our own qualified Welfare Officer whose key task is to ensure that youth team players are given the best possible opportunity to progress their football talents in a secure environment.
The Ladies football team has been a tremendous addition to the club in recent years bringing great success where they now compete at a higher level.

Off the pitch, as well as providing a place to play competitive football for the Crockenhill Youth we also hold several events and functions throughout the season where the community can become more involved.

Recent successes at Wested include the Kent Police v Crockenhill Youth Charity match and the Regional Community 7-a-side competition.

New members and volunteers are always welcome
at the club where they will find a friendly atmosphere.

In Memory of and in our thoughts Arthur West.

I want to let Crocks know of the death of a former volunteer - Arthur West.

Arthur came over to the Crocks from Croydon and enjoyed the atmosphere at Wested Meadow so much he was at first a regular spectator at away matches where he would represent the club with me, and then as a volunteer. I think it is fair to say that as a gateman Arthur took less nonsense from visiting supporters trying to blag their way in than anyone else who had done the job! A few years ago Arthur was quite seriously ill and I know the card that Chiggy arranged to be signed by the team and sent to him meant an enormous amount to both him and his family.

Arthur played in the Kent Amateur League, as the County League used to be known, for both Folkestone Invicta and Hythe United (now Town). Arthur was in the Guards and based in London but used to ride down to the coast to play in matches. How many times have modern players shown anything like that commitment?!!

I wonder if you could put a note in a forthcoming programme as I know his son Dave and widow Eileen, both from Folkestone like Arthur, would much appreciate it.

Thanks, Mike Floate
