Chairman's Update (October 2022)

A great game at the Meadow on Saturday when we entertained Bridon Ropes Reserves watched by over 70 people resulting in a 2 - 2 draw.
People said it was like an old fashioned cup tie with both sides going for the win, great chances, strong tackles, bookings and a red card.
CROCKS had a great 1st half with goals from Reece Cullen and then setting up Sam McDonald to go in at half time 2 - 0.
Second half was a bit different Bridon made 5 changes considering they were struggling for players before kick off and then found out no game for the 1st team that day, they were definitely a different team.
They scored 5 minutes into the 2nd half but the CROCKS battled well only to conceed with 5 minutes to go but we still had a great chance in the dying moments when Valter Silva broke through only to chip the keeper and instead of going in he hit the crossbar.
Good to see the Bridon Ropes Committee at the game and one point each was fair result.
Our next home game is on 5th November a cup game v Guru Nanak kicking off at 1 30pm entry is free of charge but hopefully you will buy a programme to help with referee costs.
COME ON YOU CROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Club Update from the Chairman (02 March 2021)

Our club has been shut since the 1st week of November, but hopefully will be back open at the beginning of April giving us a much needed financial boost to carry on the rest of the season.

Last week we had people break into the ground on two occasions causing damage to fencing , our turnstile, barriers and pitch, I've managed to make some repairs and will continue to do what I can.

I would like to thank Jade for helping out and setting up a go funding account to help raise money to pay for the repairs which has been quite successful and many thanks for the donations we have received from many friends of the club, fellow clubs and the many Groundhoppers that have visited Wested in recent years.

I'm looking forward to getting football back at the club and once again hearing the Crockenhill roar from the supporters while eating one of our tasty burgers.

See you all soon

COME ON YOU CROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Message from Chairman Steve Cullen (01 Feb 2021)

As we move into February still not much sign of football at the Meadow, talk now is of late March even April before football maybe possible, beyond that we feel the season will again be expunged with all records wiped out.

We have been open just 8 times since the beginning of October and missed out on several parties and function's which we normally rely on giving the club a much needed financial boost but it is what it is and we will continue to get by the best we can during this difficult time.

We were hoping to raise money for repairs to our carpark fence this season and have raised £120 so far but that now looks like being put on hold unless we can get some donations and are currently looking into possible grants to help with this project

We have lost the services of Alan and Sue Curnick as they have now moved to Devon having retired from work, Alan worked on the website, produced our programme and took photos for the County League and part time gateman and Sue helped out in the tea bar both Saturday and Sunday, and they will be greatly missed. So when we resume at the club we will be looking for people who could help out on match days.

If you feel like helping out at the club or would like to donate towards our fence appeal please call me on 07702 886966 and il be happy to help with any questions you might have.

In the mean time please take care and stay safe

ChairmanMessage From the Chairman (01 Jan 2021)

As we now move into 2021 there is still quite some discrepancy regarding football around the league's about when it can all start up again.
2020 has been a nightmare with the Covid virus ending last season early and the stop start season we are currently having and our Jan 9th return has been put back until February.
Players can't play across tiers and spectators not allowed has caused many problems both on the playing front and the financial implications suffered by clubs and ours is no different.
We still have bills to pay with no income coming in but will continue to cope as best we can until things change and would like to thank Wimpy Restaurants for their continued support during this period.
Last Saturday, Boxing day I was at the club with a couple of blue tits and parakeets for company, it was the club's 75th anniversary of when we reformed after the war with the game v Crockenhill Youth team from the Mudhole and there was probably near 200 people in attendance, how times have changed, we will reorganize the game nearer Easter and will let you know a date nearer the time.
I would just like to thank everyone who has been to games so far this season and for your continued support in helping the club in this difficult time and wish you all a happy new year which won't be hard really, stay safe and see you soon

Message From the Chairman (03 Dec 2020)

Today we can confirm that we have been put in Tier 3 the same as the rest of Kent and our League has suspended the season until the 9 th January

We are on the Kent / London border we even have a London post code and Orpington and Sidcup are just 3 miles from us yet they are ok to play and the Dover area which has the Covid problem is 75 miles away and some how affects us.

This also means our 75th anniversary Boxing day Charity event has been postponed until the Easter time when at least it might be a bit warmer for everyone.

We are hoping to be back on the 9th of January but will tell you if anything changes.

Regards

Steve Cullen

Message From the Chairman (22 Nov 2020)

I'd like to give you an update regarding the club, where we put back under lockdown from the start of November.

We are hoping to restart the League again on the 12th December with a friendly on Saturday 5th kick off 2 pm.

During the closure we have spent money on the pitch to apply work caste treatment 2nd spray which seems to much better than the 1st treatment applied in November so hopefully there won't be so much mud around.

Boxing day is infact our 75th anniversary of when we reformed after the war and was hoping to stage a charity event but due to the Covid situation we feel we can't hold it then so we are looking at Easter as a possibility but will keep you apprised of the situation in due course.

We would again like to thank Wimpy Restaurants for their continued support during this period and are still looking for match day help at the club if anyone is interested please call Steve 07702 886966.

We will continue to practice all Covid welfare at the club with social distancing and hand sanitizer and our kick off times are now at 2pm.

We will issue more information when we can regarding fixtures and events at the club

Please stay safe and hopefully see you soon

Message from the Chairman - League Update (17th June 2020)

Last night they held a unique league AGM on line with over 100 clubs logging in to zoom for the very important meeting of which many issues were dealt with and weldone to Gavin Board and the Management Committee for their hard work in achieving a smooth no issues meeting

The League have decided if all goes well then it will start on Saturday 5th September with all teams in all Leagues taking part and will be concentrating on League fixtures only with no League Cup games scheduled.

League Cup fixtures maybe rescheduled from January depending mainly on a good winter weather wise, but expect the Kent County will continue with their Cup games from October.

There was no promotion or relegation in the League's as per the FA directive and some new teams were voted in to the lower leagues but this caused problems as some teams thought they should be promoted and took many times of being told it's not allowed before the penny dropped and Punjab Reserves a new team demanding to go straight into the Premier League, they were put in to 2nd Division East the highest position possible, we all want to play at the highest level possible but sometimes conditions dictate what goes on and you just have to accept it and move on.

If there are delays in the commencement of the League all efforts will be made to start as early as possible but if it hasn't started before the end of November then there will be a plan B where teams will play each other once with sides playing 15 fixtures playing 8 Home games and 7 away

Preseason run around starts tonight at Hall Place and it will be good to see some of the players and see what shape they are in after the lockdown.

Many thanks for the players who turned up Saturday to help out and to Carla Clarkys better half for the amazing picture of a Crocodile in the changing room drawn by hand it's just a sketch at the moment and will put a picture of it on the site when it's completed.

Our strimmer has gone bang again and dispite the efforts of our miracle man Dave Hood this time things are terminal and will look for a replacement when funds are available we had it for 8 years and has been brilliant in keeping down the weeds so had our monies worth really.

We are still hoping to start friendlies in August but will depend on the KCFA who have decided that no team can apply for affiliation until after the 31st July and the process takes up to 5 weeks to complete and without it no one can play, I've no idea why this is it seems like madness to me.

I hope these updates are helpful in keeping you up to date with what's going on at the club and will keep you posted on any developments in the future

Regards

Steve Cullen

Message from the Chairman (07th June 2020)

Saturday we had a work party day at the Meadow and would like to thank the people who attended and completed many tasks around the ground. Jeff Mack, Steve Wells, Lee Barber and Charlie Anis wife Crystal and their son came up from the village for some great exercise and plenty of tea.

Great to see Manager Steve Aldridge assistant Clarky and players Reece, Craig, George and Heggs painting and clearing rubbish from around the ground.

Lee, Emma and friends had a band practice in the clubhouse and look forward to when they have a proper gig at the club look out for dates to see them. Alan ,Sue and Jade cleaned the clubhouse and bar area working around the band. Making tea where possible and feeding the kids who turned up.

Chatting to Steve and Clarky things are falling into place getting ready for new season and we are looking forward to the start and getting things back to normal. League AGM is on the 16th June on something called Zoom not sure what that is I thought it was an Ice lolly and will update you if anything important develops from the meeting.

Once again thank you for your efforts this weekend

Steve Chairman

Message from the Chairman (27th May 2020)

I'd just thought I'd update you on how things are progressing at the club during the lockdown.

We have now seeded the majority of the pitch which was quite bad after all the rain but could do with some of that now but we are watering it as much as possible and a big thank you to Jade and Nico who purchased a couple of bags of seed costing £200

Reece and Craig have removed much of the Ivy on the main carpark fence where its weight was causing the fence to lean over and we will try to straighten it best we can and repair it as funds become available to us, it's a pity Craig didn't work that hard during the season.

Dave the man from Swanley who fixed our strimmer has now got the mower going which we can now use but il continue with the hand mower as pitch is still seeding it's self and will lose that vital seed if we use the other mower so it's back in storage for the time being.

The changing rooms have come to a stand still as we are working outside while we have the weather but will go back inside when it rains.

Behind the scenes we have enrolled Emma Branch who is going to oversee the Facebook and Twitter accounts not a bit of me really 😁 but hopefully with help from people at the club we can provide a much better social media profile

Lee is doing a great job selling stuff on eBay and has raised over £300 selling memorabilia given to us over the years to raise money for the club and we thank him for all his efforts. The club still costs money to run even though we have been shut since March and with no income these purchases have been a big help.

Alan has been sorting out old programs which Lee is also looking to sell and chasing up possible grants which we may receive due to the Covid 19 virus and for further work on the pitch.

We thank the people who have been self isolating at the club, it's a big area so quite easy with a bit of exercise and fresh air and doing some important tasks as every little bit helps.

We are hoping to start the League at the beginning of September with friendlies in August, where we have FC Elmstead and Red Velvet lined up so far but will keep you posted as fixture's are arranged.

We are still looking for Red White and black paint if you have any left over and roofing felt for the dugouts and I'm here at the ground Saturdays from 10am if you want to drop it off.

We will update you as and when with information during the next few weeks, until then take care and stay safe

Message from the Chairman (02nd May 2020)

As we move into May we are still not sure when things will be back to normal, the start of May in-fact was when our season would have finished if we had made the IRCC final having missed out on our first semi final for 22 years but hopefully we can have a good run next time.

We have a new sponsor for the new season the Wimpy in Orpington High Street which opened at the end of March by Jade and Nico and you can order meals on deliveroo Uber eats and Just eat not sure if they are as good as a CROCKS burger but we hope everything works out for them and thank them for their continued support of the club after previously donated to our tractor and roof appeals.

A big thank you to local people for their paint donations and I'm at the club every Saturday from 10am if you would like to donate any White, Black or Red paint every little helps.

Our Mower has a broken clutch and awaiting repairs and our strimmer has bearing trouble which is being being fixed by a Dave Hill a kind gentleman from Swanley.

Our League is hoping to get underway by September with pre season games hopefully in August virus permitting and we will keep you up dated on our website.

Big thank you to Reece, Courtney and Lynn for their help on the pitch seeding and sanding and Alan and Sue for their efforts in sorting out things in the clubhouse

We will continue to update you on the website where possible until then

TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE

Programme Notes from the Fleetdown United Game (22/02/20) by the Chairman

Welcome from the Chairman (Steve Cullen)

Today we welcome players, staff and supporters of Fleetdown to Wested Meadow for our KCPL fixture, a change from the original one v K Sports Reserves. They are having a good run at the moment and will prove a tough nut to crack where a win today will be the 2nd double of the season having beat them on their patch earlier in the season.

Last week's game was called off due to the bad weather at Tudor Sports and once again we have had a wet week but hopefully the game will go ahead with not too much damage to the pitch.

Still no game for the U18s but are at home Sunday 10 30 am ko

Our progress in the Hospital Charity Cup has come to an end with a 6 - 1 loss to Stansfeld 1st team but the score line flattered them a bit ,our goal scored by Reece.

Many of you noticed we had signed previous Crocks player Arron McCallum but his demands for £45 a game were not what this club is about and wish him well wherever he has gone.

Good luck to all our teams this Weekend...Come on You Crocks!!!!!

 Steve
